Coir is a fiber that comes from the shell of coconuts. The coir
fiber is tough and strong and is the only natural fiber that is
unaffected by salt water. It comes from the coconut palm tree which
grows in the India/Malaysia area as well as West Africa and Central/South
America. As well as being used in doormats it is also used in manufacturing
brushes, mattresses, rope, twine and sacking. Coir has been utlilized
by man since the earliest days and its use can be traced back 3,000
years.
