Hardwood floors are expensive parts of any homes or office. The beauty and aura they add to the atmosphere of your home or office is much appreciated and considered in most interior designs. But hardwood floors is also quiet hard to maintain. Apparent care and preservation of your hardwood floors must be brought into attention most especially in high traffic areas, an area rug maybe place in these areas to protect your hardwood floors. Moreover when furniture are always moved or displaced, the floor must be somehow covered with a carpet or a rug.

Hard wood floors are quiet an investment and one thing which you can do to protect them is conveniently using furniture leg protectors. These protectors are made of felt pads that attaches to the leg or your chair, centre table or any furniture. You can easily purchase them at any home improvement stores and they are easy to attach. But the drawbacks of using this product is that when furniture are moved frequently they also wear out due to abrasion, and the last thing you notice there’s a really bad scratch on your beautiful floor. Another problem is that when chair legs are not evenly flat they will wear out quickly. Leg protectors are dirt and grit and when you not so keen on checking them once in a while, you may well be depositing a lot of grits and dust under them which may well create a miniature sand paper that will surely ruin your hardwood floors.

So still the best option is to place your sofa or couch in area rugs or rug pads. Actually, there are many rugs for sale. Protective throw rugs should be placed in many parts of the home. In places where there are more foot traffic like those in exterior door entries, the main door, kitchen, living rooms and the landing on stairs. Consider also other special places where to put rugs these places include areas in hallways or foyers, corridors and near the kitchen counter where a lot of things going on when you prepping up for dinner or something.

Exquisite Persian rugs may be a good idea to place in areas where you do a lot of pleasurable entertaining like in the living room or sala, but the best advice we get from interior design experts is not to cover up the entire hardwood floor just place the exact size that would fit you area. After all its the hardwood floor you want to show off. Having accent rugs is also a great idea it adds contrast to your hardwood floors.
